PHA's Participation in "Share-a-Night, Light-a-Light"

Saturday, December 6, 2009 ~ For the second year The Parke House Academy had the honor to provide an art booth for this wonderful charity event. We had the pleasure of meeting some of the families who have stayed at the Ronald McDonald Houses while their children were receiving much needed medical treatment and care. Many attendees contributed their artistic abilities to our inspirational chairs and Ronald McDonald himself signed both chairs.

Adventure to Fitness - Mt. Everest

WE DID IT! ~ We made it to the top of Mt. Everest on our virtual tour with Mr. Marc. It was well worth dodging the snow leopard, escaping the avalanche and much more. We raised over $3,000.00 to help fund our Parent Teacher Committee budget. Not only did we raise money for a good cause, but we learned about the importance of exercise and good nutrition along the way. Thank you Adventure to Fitness for bringing a "healthy fundraiser" to our school.

Books an' BBQ

On Wednesday evening, October 7th, PHA hosted their second annual Books an' BBQ party in celebration for a love of reading and Bubba Burgers. The event was a huge success, thanks to the efforts of the families, students, friends, and staff of PHA.

Families began to arrive as Mr. Rosato took charge of the grill. A special thanks to the Saeed family for providing the grill. Everyone filled their plates and ate with friends and family in the cafetorium. During this time, families found a moment to shop at the Book Fair to reinforce the importance of reading and help support our school. A special thanks to Judi Saakes for taking charge of the purchases at the register. Now for the real fun...

It would not be a Book Fair without a cakewalk! Over fifty students signed up to participate in our cake walk. Thanks to the wonderful parents here at PHA we had a total of thirteen cakes. Congratulations to each student who won.

Earth Week was a huge success at PHA! All students participated in fundraisers to collect money for plants and donations for the Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge. Both Upper and Lower Divisions designed and planted a sustainable community garden that the students can enjoy and maintain. They also had a trash-free lunch and wore green to show Earth Day Spirit. To finish off the week, Lower Division welcomed the Central Florida Zoo and Upper Division enjoyed a science-themed concert by Dr. Robert Everett of University of Central Florida also known as Biology Bob.

The Parke House Academy is expanding it's campus to better serve our students. It is with great pleasure that we purchased the adjacent properties to the east of our Upper Division. Our architect is designing our gymnasium and we are hopeful for a construction start date of August 01, 2009.
